T5s are efficient and only use about 50% of the electricity that HIDs use. Replacing reflectors, bulbs etc is relatively inexpensive and, when banked together, T5s can provide lighting for large areas.
Though not as intense as other lights, T5 grow lights are still effective because you can hang your light fixture closer to your plants. Producing low heat makes these bulbs perfect for small spaces and propagation purposes.
Emitting a higher lumen output than standard CFLs, T5s are powerful and available in 2700k for flowering and 6400k for vegetative growth.
These lights are ideal for mushroom growing and the scrogging method of growing cannabis.
WHAT IS SCROGGING?
Screen of Green is a form of low-stress training (See branch spreaders, plant clips, more clips, Stretchnet) that maximizes the footprint of your light. Scrogging is done by trimming the main cola, raising the lower branches up and the upper ones down, then weaving them across the screen to form a canopy of even height.
