This coco-perlite mix is ready to use – with the coir being washed, buffered and rinsed during production, creating a clean substrate with low a E.C. value and an ideal pH.
The 90-10 mix, ( 90% coir, 10% Perlite ) can be used for hotter indoor and outdoor environments, and will retain moisture longer than the 50-50 mix.
Consists of processed coconut fibre. As a growing medium similar to sphagnum peat, coco peat, also called coir or coir dust, it provides an alternative to potting soil, featuring higher aeration and antifungal benefits.
Perlite is used by hydroponic and organic gardeners. It has excellent “wicking” action, yet doesn’t absorb water, giving the plants' roots plenty of oxygen. It is commonly used with vermiculite or coco peat. Made from processed volcanic rock, it has excellent capillary properties and doesn’t compact, which allows for good aeration. Used in pot culture or with drippers, it is one of the best hydroponic mediums around.
