To power the light, you will need the LUMii Black 600w digital ballast, which is sold separately. This is the same ballast used for the LUMii Black HPS. The LED doesn’t emit much heat, so the LED 720W 6-Bar fxture uses power more efficiently.

HOW CAN A 720W FIXTURE BE POWERED BY A 600W BALLAST?

The LUMii BLACK 600w Electronic Ballast is designed to power 600w HPS lamps. The electronic components in the ballast consume around 30w while providing a full 600w  to a lamp. The ballast also has a 600w Boost setting, at which it will provide 690w to the lamp. While on the 600w Boost setting, the total power drawn is 690w + 30w, or 720w. It is at this 600w Boost setting that the fixture achieves its maximum PPF of 1870 µmol/s.

THIS IS A STAND-ALONE FIXTURE THAT DOES NOT INCLUDE THE LUMii 600W BALLAST!

The LUMii Black 600w electronic ballast, mounted directly on the fixture or positioned remotely, can dim the LED fixture to 400w or 250w, or the 600w Boost setting can give maximum light output.

This fixture produces full-spectrum light ideal for growth and bloom. Its PPF of 1870 µmol/s is superior to the PPF of typical 1000w HPS lamps and approaches that of 1000w double-ended HPS lamps.  to its construction the light distribution over the crop is more even, and the danger of scorching is greatly reduced.

Lightweight owing to not having an integral ballast, it is easy to install.  The open construction of the fixture and its very low heat output assist airflow and heat management. Ideal for growth and bloom.

Q: Why choose LED lighting over HID lighting?

A: There is little heat output from LED lights, and so heat management is simpler. The power consumed relative to the light output is far less than with a HID lamp. With some types of LED light, the spectrum is adjustable to suit grow or bloom, which is not the case with HID lamps.The LUMii Black fixtur, gives full spectrum light suited to grow and bloom stages, which is not the case with HID lamps. LED gives a more even spread of light across the canopy, but HID lights must be reflected from a narrow central source – the lamp.

Q: At what height should I hang my LUMii Black LED Fixture?
A: We recommend you hang your fixture adjustably, using rope ratchets, and that you set the fixture at around 30-50cm (minimum 15cm) above the canopy, adjusting the height as your plants grow. If the light is too intense and the plants show signs of stress, raise the fixture a little, or use a lower power setting on the ballast.

Q: Where should I place the ballast to power the LED fixture?
A: There are 2 options:

1. The ballast may be fitted to the LED fixture using the brackets and fixings supplied.

2. The ballast may be positioned remotely (up to 10m away) from the LED fixture using a LUMii Extension/ Link Lead. 

Option 1 is simpler with no extra components. However, the heat emitted by the ballast will contribute to the ambient temperature of the growing environment during the light/growing period of the day.
Option 2 requires the purchase of LUMii Extension/ Link Leads (refer to fixture instructions to select these), but if the ballast is positioned remotely then the heat management of the growing environment is easier, and the Ballast and LED Fixture can be controlled without entry to or disturbance of the grow room.
