Air pruning allows for bigger plants to grow well in these smaller containers. Air pruning occurs when the roots grow out of the holes in the pot. When this happens, the root tip will die and branch outwards. It also ensures the plant cannot get root bound. Designed to direct the growth of the roots toward the exterior, never allowing for roots to spiral.
