Taking cuttings is one of the most popular ways to propagate a plant. Also referred to as cloning, it offers the ability to get multiple plants that are genetically identical to the mother plant. Many people feel intimidated by the process. If you are one of those people, relax, it’s a relatively easy process.

What follows are instructions for a simple procedure that works for hardwood and softwood plants. Please note that not all plants are capable of being cloned.
